Meet a distinct Mangyan writing tradition from Mindoro. Practice real Buhid Unicode characters and see how its vowel signs work.
Try open syllables such as ka, ki, ku, nga or ra. This is a character-learning preview, not a translation into the Buhid language.

Buhid base-character chart
The chart uses the Buhid block U+1740–U+1753. The I/E mark is ᝒ; the U/O mark is ᝓ. Buhid has its own RA sign, ᝍ.
A script with its own identity
Buhid belongs to the script traditions of Mangyan communities in Mindoro. It should be learned with the language and knowledge of its users, rather than treated as a decorative version of Tagalog Baybayin. Digital encoding provides access to characters; it does not replace community teaching.
Three vowels and fifteen consonant bases
The chart above introduces the 18 base signs. Two dependent vowel marks change a consonant's inherent A to I/E or U/O. Unlike this site's shared Tagalog D/R form, Buhid has separate DA and RA characters. The learning preview deliberately stops short of inventing spellings for final consonants and unsupported clusters.
Use the preview as a starting point
Try a base sign with each vowel mark, compare the shapes and export a practice sheet. For real names or phrases, ask a knowledgeable Buhid reader about language and spelling conventions. A mechanically generated character sequence is not a certified transcription.
No. This page uses actual Buhid characters from Unicode U+1740–U+1753 and Noto Sans Buhid. Buhid and Tagalog Baybayin are related scripts with distinct encoded signs.
Does the preview translate into the Buhid language?
No. It maps supported Latin open syllables to Buhid signs for character practice. It cannot supply a community-reviewed spelling, translate word meanings or reconstruct an original Buhid text.
What happens to final consonants?
The preview leaves unresolved consonants visible in Latin and disables copying/exporting the incomplete result. It does not borrow a Tagalog virama or silently omit consonants. Consult a community reader for the intended word's spelling.
How do I display Buhid on another device?
Copy real Unicode text into an application with Buhid font support. This page loads Noto Sans Buhid locally. Its free SVG embeds that font, while PNG preserves the appearance as pixels.
